PERFECT WEDDING DAYS
Wedding Planning

Couples normally use the first dance to mark the start of the evening's entertainment. It's a great way for the evening guests to see the newly weds, and a rare opportunity to talk to each other. In fact, it's amazing how many couples spend the whole song whispering to each other! And after the nerves of the ceremony (and the reception champagne!) it's normally the most romantic moment of the day and the first dance song sets the theme for the rest of the night. It's all too tempting to chose this summer's slushy single as your first dance, especially if you don't have 'your song'. So to avoid immortalising your wedding with this year's version of Bryan Adams' Everything I Do for you, we've selected our suggested top ten first dance tracks. They may not quite be your perfect song, but we hope they inspire you to chose a track that suits you! So rather than create another list of the most played or popular songs, we've chosen a selection of tracks to suit various individuals.

Some tracks may sound like the perfect choice, but listening to the lyrics suggests otherwise. A perfect example is last years popular first dance 'You're Beautiful' by James Blunt. A great sounding, romantic ditty with those immortal ending words, "But it's time to face the truth, cause I'll never be with you". Perhaps not the perfect first dance after all? And in a recent poll, 'Wind Beneath My Wings' was voted as the most popular song at funerals.

The Dancers
For this couple the first dance will be intimate but more importantly fun! They may not chose the typical love song, but they will cover the whole dance floor! So make sure you get the groom to those all important dance lessons before the wedding and wow your guests with your moves. Not recommend for those with two left feet or the shy retiring types.

Suggested Songs:
She - Elvis Costello
Sway - Michael Buble

The Extraverts
Loud and bold, this couple will want everyone involved! It's not that they don't want the attention of the first dance they just want everyone to have fun and feel free to join them on the dance floor.

Suggested Songs:
Can't Take My Eyes Off You - Andy Williams

The Romantics
Slow tracks and love songs are favourites of these couples. Holding each other close, the first dance is less about the dance and more about the intimacy of holding each other. Guaranteed to leave not a single dry eye in the house.

Suggested Songs:
Have I Told You Lately? - Rod Stewart
I can’t help falling in love with you - UB40
I will always love you – Whitney Houston (tip: although a popular choice, it's about breaking up!)
Wonderful tonight - Eric Clapton

The Reflectives
It's the song, and more importantly the lyrics that inspire this pair of newly weds. The couple will almost certainly sing to each other at some point in the first dance, so the words should be appropriate! Whitney Housten's 'I will always love you' is certainly one to avoid.

Suggested Songs:
Truly Madly Deeply - Savage Garden
From this moment – Shania twain

The Devoted
A song means something to this couple, but the words aren't important. They're interested in invoking an emotion between them and the first dance song will almost certainly be 'their song'. We only picked one from this list, as we're betting you've already chosen 'your song'. So forget what other people think, pick 'your song' and keep it personal!

Suggested Songs:
Angels – Robbie Williams

As long as you pick a song that YOU are happy with, the first dance s bound to go smoothly. Remember you'll have had a fair few glasses of champagne and been running around most of the day, so you may just want to go with a slow smoochy number to make sure you don't fall on your behind!
