The traditional receiving line allows the Bride and Groom and other members of the bridal party to officially meet and welcome all of the guests. Although this personal welcome will be brief it is the only way to guarantee all guests are personally welcomed.

Couples normally use the first dance to mark the start of the evening's entertainment. It's a great way for the evening guests to see the newly weds, and a rare opportunity to talk to each other. In fact, it's amazing how many couples spend the whole song whispering to each other! And after the nerves of the ceremony (and the reception champagne!) it's normally the most romantic moment of the day and the first dance sets the theme for the rest of the night.
Some tracks may sound like the perfect choice, but listening to the lyrics suggests otherwise. A perfect example is last years popular first dance 'You're Beautiful' from James Blunt. A great sounding, romantic ditty with those immortal ending words, "But it's time to face the truth, cause I'll never be with you". Perhaps not the perfect first dance after all?
