Wedding day filming can cost anything from £300 to £3,000. With such a huge price range, how do you know what price is right for you? There's been a real surge in the number of low end wedding videography prices over the years, and the low budget, low frills option is often the choice of the price conscious bride. We take you through the range of options available, and what you can expect at each price range.

At the low end of the market, prices range from £300 to £600 for wedding day filming. At these prices, it's often unlikely that the videographer belongs to a professional organisation, and they often represent 'introductory' prices. With such fierce competition within the wedding video market, prices at the low end have been driven down by new companies offering low prices to attract clients. In essence, you'll be helping them gain experience by accepting a low price. In contrast to this, low prices at around the £500 to £600 mark are often offered by semi-professionals with experience. These companies may have had several years experience within the industry, but won't treat the wedding video as their primary source of income. With low end prices, you take the risk that the videographer has little or no experience, or that they have other work commitments which may mean your video isn't finished quite as quickly as you want. If you're on a tight budget, this is a risk you may want to take. You may find a genuine bargain at these prices, so don't be put off by the low prices. But do be conscious of making sure you get independant references.

Prices at the medium range, from £750 to £1,500 are typically offered by experienced professionals. These prices are normally their 'base' price, which means you would be limited by what they offer both on the day and after when editing. For example you may get only one camera man or filming may be restricted to certain key points in the day. Once additionals are added, you can be looking at spending twice this amount.

Whichever videography company you chose, and no matter the price, always get independent references and view samples of their work. We've often told of brides preferring the cheaper option simply because they offer exactly what they want. And a high price is no guarantee of a great film. But a higher price in wedding videography often suggests more experience... and this will show in a higly presurised environment where you only get one chance to get it right!
